About Trev Deeley Motorcycles
For more than a century, Trev Deeley Motorcycles has been a cornerstone of the motorcycle community in Vancouver and across Canada. With a rich history dating back to 1917, the dealership has played a significant role in shaping the Canadian motorcycle industry while building a legacy closely tied to Harley-Davidson® motorcycles.
A Legacy That Began in 1917
The story of Trev Deeley Motorcycles began when Fred Deeley Sr. started selling Harley-Davidson® motorcycles on Granville Street in Vancouver, British Columbia. His passion for motorcycles helped establish one of Canada's most respected motorcycle businesses.
In 1925, Fred Deeley Jr. took over the motorcycle operations, continuing the family's commitment to riders and enthusiasts throughout the region. As the business grew, it relocated to West Broadway before moving into a purpose-built motorcycle facility at 606 East Broadway in 1950.
Trev Deeley: Racing Champion and Motorcycle Pioneer
During the 1940s and 1950s, Trev Deeley became one of the most accomplished motorcycle racers in the Pacific Northwest. Dominating flat track racing circuits, he earned factory sponsorship from Harley-Davidson® and raced as AMA Expert #22. Trev was also the first Canadian rider to achieve the prestigious status of AMA National Plate Holder, marking a milestone in Canadian motorcycle racing history.
Growing the Motorcycle Industry in Canada
In 1953, Trev Deeley was appointed General Manager of Fred Deeley Motorcycles, helping guide the company into a new era of growth and innovation.
Just four years later, he became the first Honda motorcycle distributor in the English-speaking world, demonstrating his vision for expanding motorcycling opportunities in Canada. In 1973, Harley-Davidson® Motor Company selected Trev Deeley as its exclusive Canadian distributor, leading to the formation of Fred Deeley Imports Ltd.
In 1975, Trev and his partners purchased the retail dealership, officially renaming it Trev Deeley Motorcycles. The dealership quickly became recognized as one of Canada's premier destinations for Harley-Davidson® motorcycles, parts, service, apparel, and rider experiences.
Leadership with Harley-Davidson®
Trev Deeley's contributions to the motorcycle industry extended beyond Canada. In 1985, he became the first non-American appointed to the Harley-Davidson® Motor Company Board of Directors, a groundbreaking achievement that reflected his influence within the global motorcycle community. He served on the board until 1993.
